Thomas Wolfe Auditorium is celebrating its 80th anniversary of providing a civic home for music, arts and entertainment in Asheville, North Carolina, by revealing plans for its potential future development.
The City of Asheville released a draft of the conceptual design and budget for the transformation of the auditorium. A public information session took place in January 2020 regarding the renovation, which included a presentation of the conceptual design, potential future programming opportunities and a moderated question and answer session.
The final report and renderings come approximately nine months after the city hired Earl Swensson Associates (ESA), an architecture firm based in Nashville, Tennessee, to complete a stakeholder needs analysis, conceptual design and base budget. ESA has acted as the lead firm on numerous theatre renovation and construction projects, highlighted by the Charleston Gaillard Center in Charleston, South Carolina, and the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.
