The International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) June 2020 Congress – which was scheduled to be held in Taiwan – has been cancelled due to the ongoing concerns around the coronavirus. However, ISPA noted it will explore increasing its use of digital platforms to keep industry members connected.
The event organisers – ISPA staff and local host the C.F. Koo Foundation – issued a statement to make the announcement. Following the continued spread of the COVID-19 virus, cancelling the event was considered the most sensible option.
The joint statement, by ISPA CEO David Baile and board of directors chair, Tisa Ho, said, “The Executive Committee convened to review the options and the risk connected to international travel. Based on the information available at this time, it is with great regret that the Executive, in consultation with the event hosts, has decided to cancel the congress in Taipei.
“ISPA is taking this opportunity to explore the possibility of connecting with you through new digital platforms. We will be continuing with Pitch New Works and are excited to develop our first ‘online’ version of the popular programme. We are also exploring the possibility of staging one or more panels in this new format and will keep you updated on these ideas over the coming weeks.”
