PPDS, the exclusive global provider of Philips Professional Displays and complementary solutions, has officially announced its expansion into the outdoor display market, with the launch of the new 10,000 nit, Ultra High Bright, Philips Urban LED 6000 Series.
PPDS also confirmed its selection as the exclusive official supplier of LED and digital signage display for FC Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou stadium redevelopment, earmarking its new outdoor line-up to answer the club’s needs for 2,000m² (1.2km) of outdoor LED technology, including two concourse rings and three video scoreboards.
With the renovated stadium scheduled for completion in 2026, a range of Philips Professional Displays has already been selected.
The Ultra High Bright Philips Urban LED 6000 Series is designed for flexibility, reduced energy, and powerful visual performance for viewing distances between 10-30 metres.
The series is available in a range of interchangeable 10mm pixel pitch panel variants – 120 wide by 120 high, 120 wide by 90 high, and 90 wide by 90 high. PPDS said it is designed to deliver high contrast (5000:1) and high refresh rates of 7680hz for smooth broadcasting – including live coverage on matchday – with more colour subtlety, shading and saturated colours.
The series offers a brightness of up to 10,000 nits – the most powerful Philips Professional Display from PPDS to date – with all content viewable in any lighting condition, including when bathed in direct sunlight, the company said.
The new Philips Urban LED 6000 Series offers the freedom to connect and combine an unlimited number of panels of different sizes for outdoor installations of almost any form factor. For convenience and ease of installation and maintenance, the series comes with front and rear access design. Each of the LED modules cabinet can be unlocked and easily removed using a T-hex tool.
PPDS said the series comes with an IP65 rating, making panels resistant to water, such as rain or from cleaning, in any direction, as well as protected against potentially hazardous or corrosive airborne pollutants, such as dust or salt spray if by the coast. The modules also come fully equipped with long shader masks to further protect the modules and ensure deep contrast as well.
In addition, the series has been built to cope in harsh environments, be they sub-freezing conditions of -20°C (-4°F), or temperatures of up to 50°C (122°F) – without risk of condensation – while continuing to provide optimum visual performance.
The series has been optimised for lower power consumption, running at 280W/m². Packaging also continues to be a key focus for PPDS, with the Philips Urban LED 6000 Series delivered in 100% recycled and recyclable materials.
