The organisers of Showlight 2025 have announced their first lineup of speakers for the quadrennial lighting conference, scheduled for May 19-22 at Le Parc des Expositions et Congrès de Dijon, France.
The conference will feature presentations from leading lighting designers across entertainment, architecture, and live events. Cirque du Soleil lighting and set designer Mikki Kunttu will share insights into creating theatrical spectacles, while Anne Militello will explore the historical evolution of lighting techniques from ancient rituals to modern emotional manipulation.
Simon Corder will discuss his experiences working with natural light transitions at Denmark’s Hedeland Arena, addressing challenges of outdoor venue lighting and long-throw followspot operation. Spanish designer Ezequiel Nobili will present his multisensory installation from LuzMadrid 2023, which combined light with tactile and olfactory elements.
Architectural lighting will be represented by Marco Miglioli, who will examine his work on Milan Cathedral and the city’s Shoah Memorial, demonstrating how architectural lighting can guide visitors’ emotional experiences. David Gray will round out the initial speaker roster with a presentation on creating lighting effects for animated film environments and his work on the Burj Khalifa’s exterior lighting system.
The conference continues Showlight’s tradition of bringing together lighting professionals from various disciplines. “This selection draws from a mixture of lighting disciplines covering site-specific installations, mixed lighting challenges, product innovation and circus spectaculars,” said a spokesperson for the organisers.
Showlight has established itself as a significant networking event for the lighting industry since its inception. The 2025 edition marks a return to France, offering attendees opportunities to engage with industry leaders and peers while exploring the latest developments in lighting design and technology.
Full program details and registration information are expected to be announced in the coming months.
