The Georges-Pompidou Cultural Centre, located in Vincennes near Paris, France, choose to replace its current lighting equipment with LED followspot technology.
The 525-seat Georges-Pompidou Cultural Centre hosts many shows throughout the year, including music, theatre, dance, comedy and shows for younger audiences. Its operators will replace its 1200W HMI RJ Korrigan followspots with Robert Juliat’s Arthur followspot, the latest addition to the lighting specialist’s range. The venue will be the first in France to be equipped with this new model.
Supplied by Auvisys, the followspot will soon be at work, when events can resume.
With an 800W, 6000K, cool-white light source and narrow optics (5.5-15°), Arthur offers an output of more than 2000 lux at a distance of 40m (131ft), while at the same time providing light rendering with a high-rated CRI (>90).
The electronic dimming of the LED source allows the light intensity to be varied from 0-100% without visible stepping, which is achieved with smoothing and a constant colour temperature. With several ventilation modes, Arthur also offers a quiet discharge operation.
“It was important for us to play the safety card in regard to quality and, of course, the feedback we had on the Robert Juliat luminaires,” said Stéphane Agasse, stage manager at the venue. “In addition, I personally consider LED equipment to be the future of our technical profession.”
“The energy consumption of this LED followspot is minimal thanks to the efficiency of its source,” continued Agasse. “This is perfectly in line with the environmental approach of the town of Vincennes, which has been running an action programme for several years as part of Agenda 21.”
“The electronic dimming of Arthur’s LED source makes it possible to vary the light intensity, and therefore, also modulate the power consumption accordingly, which is not possible with our discharge fixtures whose consumption is constant throughout the show,” concluded Agasse.
